USAutomatic Patriot Swing Gate Opener - S5 Push Button Operation

The S5 push button requires continuous pressure to operate the gate. This button bypasses the entrapment protection requirement, as you are the safety device. Releasing the button will stop the gate. The LED indicator button may show you what the issue is. If not, verify the installed entrapment device is working properly.

LED Diagnostic Steps

Press and hold the LED Indicator button on the board and check what lights up:

LED/Indicator What It Means Solution/Fix
Battery Status LED LED is OFF Remove the battery from the operator and have it load tested. Replace if needed.
#9 Free Exit/Open Input LED is ON, indicating a device is holding the gate open Verify latch mode on the radio receiver is not turned on. Remove wires from J2 terminal pin #9; if the LED turns off, one of the devices wired there is unintentionally holding the gate open. Leaving wire(s) disconnected should allow operation to resume.

Photo Eye Troubleshooting (if installed)

Step 1: Disable the gate 1 and gate 2 switches on the circuit board.

Step 2: The photo eye should power on; check alignment at this time.

Step 3: USAutomatic photo eyes will have a red LED showing if the eyes are not aligned.

Step 4: Clean the photo eyes off and confirm the eyes are physically aligned.

Step 5: If the eyes appear aligned correctly but a red LED is still showing, replace the batteries in the transmitting photo eye with ER14505, ER14505H, or LS14500 batteries.

Step 6: Once the photo eye is realigned, enable switch 3 if a single gate, or switches 3 and 4 if a double gate.
