Troubleshooting Steps if your Ranger 500 Begins to Open or Close but Stops and Reverses After a Couple of Seconds

  1. Start by opening the control box cover and finding the Ranger control board. On the control board, find the sensitivity adjustment potentiometer. The white center is adjustable. To increase force, you need to turn the white center in a clockwise direction.

  2. For most gates, a setting of 8 for PRO80 or 5 for HD will allow for normal operation. If your gate requires a higher setting, there is a good chance that there is a problem with the gate that needs to be corrected.

Possible causes include:

  • Incorrect hinges
  • The Gate is Touching the Ground
  • The Gate is Not Level
  • The Actuator Arm is Defective or Bent

Identify and correct the problem to resume normal operation.
