Ranger 500 - Gate Opens with Transmitter but Will Not Close with Transmitter
The Ranger 500 Swing Gate Opener by USAutomatic is an automatic gate system designed for residential use, light commercial use, farms, and ranches. This swing gate operator is a great way to enhance access control and has the capability to hold gates at a maximum of 13ft and 400lbs. It can also be controlled with a remote transmitter, creating an easy solution for opening and closing the gate right from your car.
This article is going to go through the troubleshooting steps you should take if the gate opens using the transmitter but will not close using the transmitter.

- It’s most likely that the problem is occurring with the LCR receiver (P2 relay is programmed to latch mode).
- Find the control board, then locate the “LED Indicator” push button. Press and hold the button.
- Below the J2 terminal plug on the control board, you’ll see the LED indicators. Note if any are on when the “LED Indicator” push button is pressed.
- If the “Free Exit/Open Input” LD2 is on: the receiver (P2) is programmed to latch mode.
- Reset the receiver P2 relay to momentary mode.
