Patriot RSL - Single Gate Will Not Operate
If your Patriot RSL gate opener is not functioning, it's important to test a few things first as it's possible that a transmitter may just be malfunctioning or a minor bug occurred in the system. This may not always be because of a system failure, hardware does on occasion randomly malfunction for seemingly no reason at all but is usually able to be resolved with just a few steps such as the following:
- Remove the control box cover, locate the Open/Close Command button, and press it to operate the gate.
- Press the Reset button located above the Open/Close Command button, then press the Open/Close Command button to attempt operation again.
- When pressing the Open/Close Command button, listen for a clicking sound. If a click is heard, verify the following:
- The wire harness is connected to the gear motor cable in the battery compartment.
- The 15 amp fuse on the control board is good. If not, replace it using the spare located on the control board. Also check dipswitches 3 and 4 for correct switch settings based on whether the actuator is connected to Gate 1 or Gate 2.
- If the switches are correct, the fuse is good, and the harness is connected but a clicking sound is still heard, the battery needs to be load tested to determine its condition. Charge or replace the battery based on the results.
- If the switches are correct, the fuse is good, and the harness is connected and a clicking sound is heard, the battery needs to be load tested. Charge or replace the battery based on the results.
Note: If both limit LEDs located below the actuator plug connector are on, the operator will not function. The limit switch will need to be adjusted.
