How to Reset the Master Password Back to Default on a Premium Metal Wireless Keypad

If you need to make changes to your Premium Metal Wireless Keypad (Part #050551) but cannot remember the Master Password, you can reset it back to the factory default of 11111 using the PUK code. The PUK (Password Unblocking Key) code is printed on a sticker inside the keypad and is required to complete this process. You will need to open the keypad to find it before getting started.

Step 1: Remove the Keypad from Its Housing

1. Use the included key to unlock the keypad.
2. Lift the keypad up and away from the back plate to remove it.

Step 2: Remove the Internal Back Plate

The internal back plate is held in place with four Phillips head screws. Remove all four screws to access the inside of the keypad. Do not over-tighten when reinstalling.

Step 3: Locate the PUK Code

The PUK code is printed on a white sticker on the back of the keypad itself. Write it down before moving on. You will need to enter it twice during the reset process.

Step 4: Reset the Master Password

Work through the steps below without pausing between key presses. The keypad has a short timeout and will exit programming mode if you wait too long. Write down the full sequence before starting.

1. Enter 11111, then press 8. You should hear one long beep. This is expected. A long beep at this step confirms the Master Password is not currently 11111 and the reset can proceed. If you hear two short beeps instead, the Master Password is already 11111 and no reset is needed.
2. Enter your PUK code, then press 8.
3. Re-enter the same PUK code, then press 8. Two short beeps confirm the Master Password has been reset to 11111.

Step 5: Confirm the Reset

To verify the reset worked, enter 11111 followed by 9. You should hear two short beeps. If you hear a long beep, the reset did not complete correctly. Double-check that you entered the PUK code accurately in Step 4 and try again.

Step 6: Reinstall the Keypad

1. Set the internal back plate back into place and secure it with the four Phillips head screws. Do not over-tighten.
2. Set the keypad back into the housing.
3. Lock the keypad into place with the included key.

Troubleshooting

I hear two short beeps when I enter 11111 and press 8.

Two short beeps at that step mean the Master Password is already set to 11111. No reset is needed. You can proceed with programming using 11111 as your Master Password.

I hear a long beep after entering the PUK code.

A long beep after the PUK entry means the code was not accepted. Check that you are reading the sticker correctly and entering the code exactly as printed. If the keypad timed out during entry, start over from Step 4 and move through each key press without pausing.

Two short beeps did not occur at the end of Step 4.

If the final confirmation beeps did not happen, the reset did not complete. Make sure you re-entered the PUK code exactly the same both times and pressed 8 after each entry. Start over from Step 4.

I cannot find the PUK sticker inside the keypad.

The sticker is on the back of the keypad unit itself, not on the housing or back plate. If the sticker is missing or the code is unreadable, contact USAutomatic support for assistance. Without the PUK code, the Master Password cannot be reset.
