How to Replace the Battery in a Basic Wireless Keypad
The most common reason a basic wireless keypad stops responding is a dead battery. Replacing it takes just a minute and does not erase your programmed codes.
Manual
Steps
- Remove the keypad cover. (If mounted to a wall, you may need to detach it first.)
- Find the battery on the bottom side of the circuit board.
- Grip the old battery and pull upward to remove it
- Insert the new CR123A battery, matching the +/- polarity markings
- Replace the cover.
Test It
Enter your access code. If the gate opens, you're done! If not, try these quick fixes:
| Problem | Quick Fix |
|---|---|
| No red light or beeps | Check that the battery polarity is correct |
| Keypad lights up, but gate won't move | You may need to re-pair the keypad to the receiver |
