How to Hardwire the Battery Controller to a Battery
The USAutomatic 520001 Battery Controller accepts direct-wire leads for a permanent battery connection. Use this method when you want a secure, hardwired power setup for your gate opener. Compatible batteries include: 12V SLA, FLD, GEL, or AGM. Do not use Lithium-ion.
Manuals
Steps
- Connect the leads to the battery first. Match red to (+) and black to (-).
- Attach the controller's direct wire leads (14-18 gauge) to the battery terminals. Make sure polarity is correct.
- Check the LCD screen. It should display the current battery voltage, confirming power is flowing.
- Connect your charging source. Plug in the solar panel or DC Transformer (Part # 520009) to the controller's power input.
Safety Notes
- Never install the controller in a sealed enclosure with flooded batteries. This causes a risk of explosion.
- If the LCD stays blank, check for reversed polarity or a battery drained below 10.5V.
